SpeakLife Fight Against ALS 5K

The SpeakLife 5K will kick off and introduce Speak Life, a nonprofit organization that encourages loving others and inspiring significance through athletics. Proceeds from race registration will support the Brigance Brigade Foundation's fight against ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).

Held Saturday, May 19th at 9am at Mitch Park YMCA, racers can expect an uplifting, family-friendly morning that encourages positivity and movement! Register today!

NOTES about race day:

- This year's race is not timed

- Plan to arrive at Mitch Park YMCA by 8:30AM to pick up your t-shirt and bib, or register on-site (Cash and check strongly preferred)

- Stick around after the race for fun, family-friendly activities

- Event is rain or shine and there will be no refunds for this charity event

Why a Virtual 5.7K Championship Race? SpeakLife is founded by former NFL player, Rickey Brady. One of Rickey's mentors, O.J. Brigance, is a former NFL player (#57!) turned-front-office-staff of the Baltimore Ravens.

Eleven years ago, O.J. was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. This disease is one that takes away someone's ability to move, to speak, to breathe, and to swallow. O.J. continues to battle ALS today; using a power wheelchair, a breathing machine, and a device that speaks for him, he also continues to work full-time for the Baltimore Ravens as Senior Advisor to Player Engagement.

Additionally, he and his wife, Chanda, oversee Brigance Brigade Foundation which provides hope and financial help for other ALS families.
